Default Flashing Anti-theft light

Does anybody know if the anti-theft light on the dash is supposed to flash, even when the doors are un-locked?

The reason I ask is because I am having battery draining issues and while I know that there have been many threads saying that it is most likely the Shaker 1000, I thought that somthing may be wrong with my anti-theft.

I jacked the car up a few months ago when the doors were locked and I couldn't start the car afterwards until I gave it a jump. (I am assuming that is the result of the anti-theft). Ever since then, the battery has been going dead often (It's not a daily driver.)

Thanks for any help,
Dino

It's normal for it to always flash. The only time it won't is with the car running.

OK, thanks. I guess I'll look towards the Shaker for my battery issues...

Thats the PATS or Passive Anti Theft System indicator
not to be confused with the Anti-Theft Alarm.
They are two different systems.
The PATS flashes whenever the ignition is shut off
regardless of the Anti-Theft Alarms status.

It is an anti theft light like the OP correctly discribed it.

besides that, the car battery could run that light for months without draining it.

I have read that if you do not turn your radio off before you turn your car off, it could drain the battery. Also having the Anti Theft System armed for long periods of time will also drain your battery.
