I bought a used SCTxcal2 with three Brenspeed tunes. I loaded up LiveLoad, connected the tuner to the computer, and clicked on the unlock button. I then took the tuner to the car and loaded up the 89 tune (I presume this was the canned tune that came with the Xcal?). Everything went well until I tried to start the car. It turns over but doesn't start. I then loaded up "return to stock" and the same thing happened. Now I have 3500 lbs of inert metal in the garage. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Did you load the Brenspeed tunes on to the tuner after you unlocked it?

Also, do you have any other mods?

If you loaded a custom tune it definitely wont work since they are locked to a specific ECM. So that will explain problem number 1. Now ... I would think that returning to stock should have fixed it. Brenspeed might be able to answer the question ... but from what I have seen if you mess up your ECM you have to have it towed to the dealer and they can reload the factory code by looking it up via your VIN ... Good luck ...

you loaded the brenspeed tunes with a PCM code that doesnt match yours i think. return to stock and get some new tunes from brenspeed

No mods at all. I would really like to have my car for the holiday weekend, do you think I will have to have the ford dealer reload the factory tune? I did return it to stock, it spins over but doesn't start.

yeah, your dealer needs to return the car to stock....or you could wait for the right tune to arrive from Brenspeed....

call Brenspeed tho...they're good with customer service

I just recently bought a bbk cai and sct xcal 2 from another forum member... I havent got it yet but he only used it once and it came with 3 of brenspeeds tunes, will they work or do I need to buy another tune from brenspeed or bama?

probably not....like stated you computer codes have to match first off...if they dont, you need new tunes

No ... they will not work ... don't even try to you may end up like the OP. You have to buy new tunes specifically for you car. Usually it's cheaper to by the XCAL & custom tunes as a package since they charge more if you buy just the tunes without the tuner.

If need be, you can always email Matt at SCT and have him send you a stock tune to get you going.
