as far as the employee discount on a gt500. i have the xplan i know its different then the aplan or other employee discounts, but the xplan excluded the gt500.

I was torn between the gt and gt500 decision also, but in the end i couldnt justify paying sticker for a gt500 when i could get $8000 under sticker for a gt. But when im done with my gt i will have sunk in around $20k in upgrades, which i could have used to get a gt500 in the first place!

Wanna save yourself five grand? Skip the supercharger and put in a set of 4:10 rear end gears. The car will come alive for about five hundred dollars instead of five thousand dollars. The GT 500 is a very nice car but there's no where to go with it once you buy it. Every mod you make will actually decrease it's value. I learned this when I bought my 07 Z06. There's a lot more fun in building EXACTLY what you like with a basic GT. Just my 2 cents.

Depends on what you are looking for i guess. If you are looking to resale make money off it then that might be the case. If you want to spend less than 1000 and have over 600 RWHP and potentional for soo much more, its a great engine to start will. I see the GT500 just as fun to mod as a regular GT performance wise. Looks however, the GT500 does just fine out of the box. They are sexy as hell IMO.

Don't get me wrong. I really like the GT500. I just don't get the whole fascination with these outrageous horsepower numbers. I mean, how fast can you really drive on the street anyway? My Z06 is insanely fast. In fact, I would go so far as to say it is TOO FAST. At least for New England roads. 505 HP and weighing in at 3000 pounds is dangerously quick. There's gotta come a time when enough is enough. My Z will do 60 mph in 1st gear and 90 mph in second. Honestly, does anyone really need that kind of speed on the street? Check out the acceleration on this older style supercharged vette.
