Okay, so first time on here and want to know if FL 7849 mufflers are stock on a 06 Mustang GT. Bought the car four years ago and love the sound, but someone asked me if it was stock or not and I had no idea and still don't. A little help please.

That is the stock muffler part number - L for the left and R for the right after the number.

Hi All,

I'm reviving an old thread here but need some clarification on my end. I have a 05 Mustang GT with stock mufflers. There is a guy selling his GT500 mufflers(P/N:F1-7991). However, they look remarkably similar to the stock GT exhaust bar the chrome tips he has on his. Would anyone know if these will sound different from what I already have or it won't make much of a difference sound wise.

I have the F1-7991 mufflers on my car and they are the same as stock except for the 3" chrome tailpipes. They were originally fitted to the '07-'09 automatic GT and the '07-'09 GT500 (the latter with a tailpipe stamped with Shelby).

They will sound exactly like the GT mufflers if they are from a Shelby up to model year 2009. Ford used the stock GT muffler for an automatic on the Shelby up until 2010 when the Shelby got its own muffler set up.

That's why they "look remarkably similar to the stock GT". So don't spend much on them just because they came off a Shelby. Ford used a lot of off the shelf parts on the Shelby.
