Anyone else have 3m tape issues
#13
Weird thing happened. After the sun started to go down and the air cooled off the tape reattached itself to the car without me messing with it. The tape is perfectly bonded again with no gaps. You can't even tell that it broke loose in the first place. I have a feeling though that during the day tomorrow it's gonna separate again. It seems that maybe the metal lid and the plastic spoiler expand at different rates and they get pulled apart. Either way I'm gonna retry the tape or use sealant to try and get a bond that won't do this every day.

A few HOURS???
Well that's the problem!
The tape needs at least a whole night to sit.
I had 3M failure on part of my new louver and on the highway it created a rattle! Had to yank the whole thing off because it was just too noisy on my recent 500 mile trip! Got a role of 3M red tape and put lots on and we'll see how it holds up in a few days after I let it sit a few days.

I've not had any problems with any or my parts staying put with the 3m tape. I did put sealant around all the bolt holes before putting them on just in case there was a problem but so far I've noticed none. The hood scoop does not fit real tight to the hood down the sides but that's a fitting problem, not a tape one.

So I checked the tape today and the front edge is still adhered tight and flush with no signs of separation. However, the back edge has released once again. I just find it weird that during the day this happens and at night all is well again.

Those spoilers are made of plastic an are prone to heat like any other plastic material.
You prolly gonna have to redo it when it's close to 80 degrees.
You never apply 3M tape in low temperatures, but you know that now.
Good luck.
