Default hood pins + fiberglass hood?

Ok, so last time I was on the interstate at a pretty good pace I noticed that my hood was kind of shaking because of the air turbulence, and it kind of scared me a little bit because the paranoid part of me just knew that **** was about to come through the windshield at me. After this, I just read a post in the OT section where a guy was riding down the interstate when his fiberglass hood came unlatched at 55 mph and crashed through the windshield. Now I am officially kind of scared. Do you guys think it'll be alright and I'm freaking for nothing, or should I invest in a set of hood pins? I'm not the biggest fan of them but if it'll keep the hood from busting through the windshield at 70 mph on I-75........

you might want to go ahead and get some. if you aren't a fan of the look, get some of the ones that don't have the obvious looking wires. maybe the twists or some of the slide pins.

I seriously didn't know that hoods popping off ever happened nowadays... I always thought that hood pins were unfunctional with today's cars.

that's why I went ahead and installed them while I was doing everything else...

with hood pins and lanyards

with hood pins and no lanyards (this is how the car currently is)

where I installed them in the radiator support (there is a hole there currently that can be used with only minor modifications)

the bolts I used to attach the other end of the lanyards to

yeah, I would definitely not install the hood pins. Are there any options for more subtle ones than the typical FRPP/Shelby options?

yeah, that's what I mean. like something more modern and less "race car" styled.

I would go with pins. $50 can save you a lot in the long run.

I honestly think that they are all going to give off a "race car" style regardless of which ones you go with. A fellow club member that just so happens to live in the same neighborhood as me got his GT500 KR a week ago and even the flush mounted "twist" style hood pins that his car came with give off that appearance....just in a different looking way.

You will have to decide if you are willing to give up the clean look that you currently have for the added security of having hood pins?
