In my opinion, Ford was just thinking about the future of its company and mustangs. But if Ford returned the Boss or the Mach 1, it will probably blow away the competition lol.

the reason why, I believe their holding off from bringing out the 5.0 next year is because they dont want to make a GT faster then the Gt500 that would down right be stupid, they're trying to make a motor with middle power band something in between the 4.6 and 5.4L so hopefully it will have around 390-400 Hp around there.

not too impressed with the stang at all. Looks too similiar to the original s197 and ford obviously has shown they don't care at all about performance competition.

you were right i was 170 pounds off, plus driver and gas, its over 430

First things first, let’s take a look at Dodge’s performance Challenger (MSRP $40,095). The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 features a 6.1L SRT HEMI engine which Dodge says can produce 425 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. This 6.1L engine is designed to give the SRT8 power. Truth be told, it also weighs the car down. The end result is a curb weight of 4,140 lbs for the Challenger SRT8.

some shelby comparison

The Shelby Mustang is 220 lbs. lighter than the srt 8 Challenger. It also produces 75 more hp than Dodge’s car.

I hate how people were thinking that this was going to be an ALL NEW mustang with a billion hp and a new engine (that was clearly not going to be ready).

I was hoping for an increase in power that was more than just 15 hp, like most people...as they did have decent hp increases for almost every generation.

The challenger is 650 pounds heavier than the 'new' mustang gt, so lets assume that the challenger now has 375 hp, instead of 425(assuming that it's excessive weight and hp balance with the new mustang). This seems to be a good comparable number, IMO.

Anybody know how much the camaro ss weighs in at?

Make up your mind dudes, either defend the stock for stock, mod for mod theory......or get into the "run what ya brung" camp. You can't play both sides.
Never said this im just saying when aftermarket comes out it can pose a threat

big difference. so let them have 100 more horsepower, they need it.

btw remember the GT is the base V8 package? how many times do they need to tell all you guys?

also the 300 HP v6 camaro is going to be a failure. if you think about it the v6 cars are meant for people who dont need performance but like the looks of the cars. the insurance on those cars will be ridiculous, and many people will buy the v6 mustang over the v6 camaro

and lastly remember that there has been a mid performance model in between the GT and the GT 500 since 2003. im sure they will step up the shelby GT or introduce a mach 1 or bullitt or boss edition in between the cobra and GT

EVERY ONE DONT GET YOUR PANTIES IN A BUNCH,

seriously i cant remember a new mustang anyone liked. seems Ford just cant get it right?

we should all drive classics
1. The camaro weight is 3800 LBS
2. The V6 will not be a failure you wait and see how it will overshadow the V6 Mustang and the insurance will not be ridiculous. I bet it will be the same as the V6 Mustang.

Using this argument i can just by a 2002 LS1 for 10K and use the remaining 16K to turbocharge the car and put it into deep 8's.

Yes they are around 3500 or so but what about the old 3000 mark they used to be at. put that 300hp in a 3000 lbs car and you have a nice factory beast.
