Why is everyone compairing the SALES of the Camaro from 10 years ago? Chevy has already ramped up production to meet 130,000 cars the first year, the 2010 Camaro is following the Mustang Sales tips. I feel the Camaro will sell far better than the 4th Gen and may top the Mustang by 2011. I am one that likes the looks of the 5th gen camaro, 1000% improvment over the 4th gen.

Ford messed up, I Will Not be buying a new Mustang, I am buying a New Camaro.
mostly because of Power. Now I am one of those S197 Mustangs running 12.2 -12.3 in the 1/4 Mile N/A on a Stock Motor, it's too hard to get there with the 4.6 3V and I don't have the cash to drop on a S/C. I could Mod a Camaro SS with the same Mods I have on my Mustang and hit high 11's. the Lxx motors are much more capable and cheaper to mod.

Ford could have used the Hurricaine or Coyote 5.0 Engines 350-380hp that would have made the Mustang a compeditor, the 2010 Mustang I am afraid will be in a Distant 3rd or 4th.

So unless the Mustang comes out with the Coyote 5.0L I will not own another Mustang
I Pray for the - TiVCT 32 valve, Aluminum block, 400 hp, 375 ft-lb 11:1 compression ratio
and 7,000 RPM redline Coyote......
I remember the 5.0 was the Mustang, and the Mustang is not truly a Mustang without one.

Hmmm well heres my two cents, I think the view on the camaro has changed which is probably why the camaro will outsell the mustang.

I have always been into mustangs and muscle cars, but the people that I am surrounded with have a view on muscle cars, "slow cars that my friend with a turbo b16 civic or evo can easily beat them" or "those cars are for white trash, white people only" so I was always the odd one out ever since I was in high school.

Ever since the movie Transformers came out which was a major box office hit, I noticed a cultural change people are more familiar with the camaro because of it. They no longer say its white trash, or my turbo civic can beat them, it gains respect just because of a movie.

I frequently drive through Al Hambra, Rosemead, Arcadia, which in Southern California are Asian dominated areas.

I have overheard peoples conversations changing from Oh I just killed a mustang (probably a v6) to "Damn that car bumble bee, I think its a camaro, that is sick and its fast".

I think the view on camaros and muscle cars has changed. and the cultural forces behind it have changed too.

Especially with the timing of the release of Fast and Furious 4 which is probably based on muscle cars to be during the same time as the release of the camaro / mustang in the summer should fuel the sales of both cars. Also along with Transformers 2.

What the original Fast and the Furious movie did with all those Import / Tuner cars... every one with any year Civic and an exhaust thought he was the fastest car on the street.

So i think the equivalent would be
Mustang - Civic < both are cheap and can modded to be extremely fast>
Corvette - Nissan Skyline <Top Tier Cars>
Camaro - Evo < Both are High Performance cars>

I am not saying that a mustang equals a civic, but as far as the import world those are the equivalents for what people do with their cars. In the Import World the cheap car but can be fast is a Civic, and for the muscle car world, the mustang is the cheapest one and can be modded to be fast.

I believe if the fast and furious 4 movie portrays muscle cars the right way, you`ll see a ripple effect of every1 wanting a muscle car.

But since the camaro is more familiar now to a wider range of people it will probably gain a new fan base. and the conception of camaro's always being faster than mustangs will pass down along with it.

So i think that camaro's will probably outsell mustangs because it will be viewed as better and faster. and it will be more of a "HOT CAR" to have rather than a mustang.

But yeah this is just my opinion, sooooo yeah don't go of on hating lol its just what i think

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the manual/LS3 SS gonna cost you more starting out than the auto/L99? I thought I read that only the baseline L99 was gonna start at 30K.....the LS3 is gonna run you closer to 34K.

And yea.......the new GT's will weigh in the 3550 lb area, not 3400. But also, the SS will weigh in the 3850-3910 lb range, not 3700 lb. Don't pass out specs, ppl, if you're not sure what you're talking about. Half the time we end up arguing over misinformation rather than "who's best at what".

After reviewing the options list, I think the Camaro has more options, is a better quality car and is faster.

The mustang has a good following but the camaro and challenger will def. reap some of those sales numbers the mustang has. Now that there is some variety in the market not everyone will flock to the mustang. what we need to look at arent the higher models but the base models because those sell the most.
