Just wondering, is it not recommended, or does it drastically change handling/turning if you do 10 inch wide all the way around?

I think when the time comes, I'll probably just go with 9" all the way around, but I was just curious to how 10 inch would look/feel like.

Do I get that right that you're running 45 height all around? Did you lower the car or did you keep it at factory height?
I'm looking to buying 18" wheels, but the rear height of 40 keeps me concerned whether there won't be too much empty space in the wheelwell after I put them in. I was probably thinking of getting 295/40 to raise the sidewall a bit..Now I'm more that seriously concerned whether I was thinking correctly or I was missing smth..

If you are looking to do something different, do what I did. Halibrand style. 18x9 in the front 18x10 in the back. I get so many comments on these rims.
