mine did the exact same thing this morning on my way to work. dropped it from 5th to 3rd and was nothing. not for a couple of seconds at least. never happen before. most of the time when i do this to pass there is no delay. going to try the put in 4th gear and see if it dies trick and if it dont, ford is getting it. only has 12k miles on it.

I've posted about this numerous times.

I've had it occur about 5 or 6 times but have not been able to duplicate it with the TCS off. The last time it occured the TCS was on and I actually saw the TCS icon on the speedometer light up (the car w/squigley line). It was the only time it was dark out so I probably never noticed it in the prior instances.

Turn off your TCS. It cuts fuel (and possibly spark).

thanks buddy. how you been?
i was beginning to think the same thing. but i could have sworn i turned it off this morning when i started it. no little icon showed up. i am going to try the same shift on the way home and see what happens. took it out at lunch and it died immediately when i came off the clutch with the trans in 4th gear. so no slippage. just seems that the disengage point is a little higher. you can feel the car buck a little when i come off the clutch after i shift in every gear, you know the bucking you get when you ride with someone who is just learning to drive a manual car. just doesnt feel right. but it is also 70 degrees here today and that might have something else to do with my it doesnt feel as quick. damn i love the cold weather in these things.

Not doing too bad my friend. But I think my days in this part of the country are numbered. The temp assignment will be done end of March or April (unless I get ANOTHER extension).

I was skeptical about it being TCS but everything so far, for me, seems to point to it. I won't go as far as to say that I'm positive that it's TCS but I feel pretty confident since I can't duplicate it with TCS off (and I'll do the 5th to 3rd downshift from 60 or 70 and nail it fairly often) and, with that last occurence, I feel about 99% sure.

I get this too but once in a while and I was starting to think my clutch was starting to go but then that would be happening all the time. It almost feels like the tires are slipping but I know they are not.

I know the stock tune runs this type of thing as a safety measure. It prevents shock to the drivetrain by not letting the car go WOT instantly.... alot less fun!
