GT500 vs Whipple
#13
GT500 absolutely.
as bulletproof as this car is with bolt ons (solid motor, decent trans, built rear end) a GT500 is even more so. you could keep it near stock (intake, tune, pulley, exhaust) and put a few strengthening parts on it (T/a axle girdle, shifter, cooling mods) and beat the living **** out of it and not have to worry about anything

The gt500 does NOT have more potential than the GT to where it matters, both the GT and the GT500 take similar though not the same amounts of money and effort to get to 1000 hp and then the only significant advantage is that the GT500 can go above 1000 hp. To go above a pointless 1000hp you must spend at least 20k on the gt500 though.
It's never going to be worth the trade because the added weight will kill your handling which is much worse than mildly denting your wallet.

Shelby dies tomorrow (bless his heart) and the 500 is worth an instant 100K.
Not happening with any GT
We will not mention that a $45K Cobra does only need about 2K to be at a reliable 600rwhp
How much $ a GT needs to get there? Thank you.
And when it's all said and done, the heavy modded GT will still have a poor resale value.
Since history repeat itself, we can 40 years later, look at today's price differences between a 67 fastback GT and a 67 Shelby and see that your "not more potential where it matters" theory doesn't hold water.
Your opinion deserves respect but it is not objective at all, neither is mine, but facts are...
