Hi everybody ,

I am from Europe / Romania and at local Ford dealer they never had an Mustang inside ....so no way to get an help from them .
My car is an V6 coupe , 2006 , 5+1 manual speed .
I have an disequilibrium for rear end ebrake ... I have searched under the car and i have seen that the plate shown in the image ( the plate where the 2 rear cables join ) is not staying straight and when i pull the ebrake the left cable is tightened faster then the right cable ( i suppose that one of the cables is 2-3 mm shorter thats why the plate is slightly lop-sided ) . Does exist any bolt or screw or something to regulate the length of the cable ... or any sollution to fix them straight ?

i mention that i bought the car 3 months ago and i can not use the car because of this problem .... ( authorities has been checked the car and they told me is not suitable for driving ... pfff.... )

SECTION 206-05: Parking Brake and Actuation 2006 Mustang Workshop Manual
GENERAL PROCEDURES

Parking Brake Cable Adjustment

CAUTION: Do not overtighten the parking brake cable adjustment nut. Overtightening will cause the brakes to drag or lock up.

1. Remove the access cover inside the floor console bin. (see figure 1)
2. Position the parking brake handle up at the fourth notch to access the adjuster nut.
3. NOTE: The rod is staked to prevent the removal of the nut. (see figure 2)
Loosen, but do not remove, the parking brake cable adjuster nut.
4. Apply the tension by tightening the parking brake cable adjustment nut until there is no lash in the system with the handle in the lowered position.
5. Cycle the parking brake control 4 times and adjust as necessary.
6. Lower the parking brake handle and install the access cover.
7. Test the parking brake system for proper operation.

Hi Partsbill ,

I am not talking about this ..probably i was not so expllicite ...
I know how to tighten the central cable .... the only problem is that the small plate where are fixed the central cable and other 2 rear brake cables does not stay straight ....so the result is that when we use the ebrake one wheel brake is faster then the other ...at the result is an desequilibrium for the brake ( imagine that for example the rear left wheel brake cable is shorter then the right one ...when i use the brake the left wheel will start decelleration faster and the car will goes on a wrong direction not straight as normal )

Remove the parking brake handle and all associated hardware/cables.
Problem solved.
