Default Oil change

It's time for my Shelby to get its first oil change. Do I need to take the synthetic/expensive route? Or can I go as low as the conventional stuff?

I do not want to get hustled today.

Any help will be appreciated.

There is only about a $30 difference in price. Isn't your Shelby worth that? Even if you get 10 oil changes a year (which I'm sure you don't), thats only a $300 difference.

I'd stick to either synthetic blend or full synthetic with the Motorcraft filter. And do it yourself. Simple. See tacobills "how to" sticky.

Ton's of threads on this subject including what motor oil to use, what filter to use, how often to change your oil and how to jam sharp objects in your eye.

Go with the synthetic or synthetic blend and change it every 5k. That is where the savings come in.

Just bought Mobil 1 5w-20 (full synthetic).

I also bent over and paid for a Mobil 1 filter - $13. The Motorcraft filter was about $4 I think. Not sure if I made a good move on the filter because i'm not sure there is a big difference there.

I'm good with my oil purchase though.

+1 that's the mobil 1 synthetic I've always used on the car for 3 1/2 years.

I don't trust ANY shop to change my oil; it's easy to do.
