Default What Trottle Body to purchase?

I'm looking for reccomendations as to what Trottle Body to buy to improve performance.

I have a SCT Livewire and tune which takes into account my Steeda CAI. Do I need a tune modification for a Trottle Body upgrade?

My limit to spend is $450. It also must be self-installable.

none, most aftermarket TB will not produce much in gains since you have very few mods. Some will just throw errors. Stick with the stock TB and get some pullies, maybe delete plates and new tunes. $$$ better spent for sure.

Ditto what Mat said.

An aftermarket TB won't do you any good unless you're FI or heavily modded internally. The stock TB flows just fine and aftermarket TB's have been known to be real headaches on occasion.

You should get new custom tunes, Brenspeed if Manual, and Bamachips if you have an Auto. You should still have about $330 to play with.

If you are dead set on a throttle body, I like the Shelby GT500 twin 65mm throttle body kit from http://www.rpmoutlet.com/05gtbbk.htm . It says it bolts on 12 HP but I doubt it adds 5. I did notice a little better throttle response after it was blotted on. I wasn't going to going to buy a TB after reading what people say about them but a club member gave me a good price so I caved in lol. As for what everyone else is saying, If your not set on a TB id go with what Howarmat said and get some underdrive pullys. They will add some power you can feel epically at higher RPMs.

Hmm, well it would seem based on this a trottle body would be a waste of money for me since I don't plan on massive modifications or a super charger now.

So pullys might be a good idea. Found these on American Muscle, what do you guys think? Godo price, will there be some noticeable power increase?

I was reading that this could cause an alternator failure and battery issues. Is that true?

I have the Shaker 500 stero.. which is the base stero on the GT so I should be ok?

Link to pullys I found:

huh, i don't think i've ever heard of pulleys causing problems like that, but i am pretty sure there is a little noticeable power increase, and that steeda makes one of the best pulley systems for the s197

cost to performance ratio is not worth it IMO....many other parts or mods to get that will yield more HP! JMO

Ex. - I wont even get a bigger TB until I have 16+ psi with the whipple and I wont get the GT500 one it will be the black diamond mono blade (1600+ cfm)
