Talking Modification Reccomendations (for the noob)

Hello all

If this is the wrong place to post this then just let me know

Im looking forward to buying a 2005-2009 Mustang GT. Probably going to be black on black leather w/ a stick (if I can find it)

Reason I choose a Mustang is because well... this right here. Theres a massive community and tons of support (and products to go along with) modifying a Mustang, and from what I can tell is a decent amount less than some other choises.

Anyway... I was wondering if anybody had some products in mind that are kinda popular bang-for-your-buck items. Ill probably be looking at these modifications in this rough order (excluding visual things like wheels, tint, light covers... etc.) :

Exahust
probably just cat-backs to begin with
don't want anything too loud, like SLP loudmouths
this is something most people just do themselves right? doest look to hard...

Suspension
Lowering specifically
does a simple ~1.5' spring kit help handling all that much?
again, is this the type of thing you do yourself? I looked at the guide and it looked kinda scary...

Thats probably all to begin with... Price isn't a big factor and I'm not on a budget as I don't even have the car yet

Also, where do most people buy their parts? I see theres a few good looking places on the interwebz but is it best to just try to find a good local shop?

Thanks in advanced, I hope to stick around these forums

The first thing everyone is going to recommend is a cold air intake and a tuner. That package runs about $600

www.brenspeed.com is a great shop, check out the site sponsors. They all have great prices and service.

first off welcome to the site! You are definately right, we have a huge following and tons of knowledge here on this site to help you meet all your goals. For exhaust i am partial to the pypes midmuffler setup as you will get a real nice sound with no in car drone. I have had a few differant setups and this is my favorte so far. As for the suspension there are a lot of options. Eibachs and steeda springs are fairly popular combined with some D-specs for shocks/struts. Best bang for your buck, as most will agree, is an intake and tuner combo which on average give you about 25hp. Some forum sponsors that offer free shipping are americanmuscle.com and stangmods.com. rpidesigns.com has a lot apperance mods that come prepainted and mossmuscle.com has a little bit of everything.

Ive found americanmuscle.com before. I like their site so I may use them...

At this point, I don't care too much about the power. I do want it to sound good though =D

What are the advantages of buying from a forum sponsor?

Thanks for the quick help guys, keep the suggestions coming

Good Mod list to start;

C&L Racer intake and tuner combo from Brenspeed
Gears - 4.10's
Exhaust - I have pypes violators and like them but the mid mufflers werent out when I bought so I would get them.
Shorty Antenna

Do those mods the first week you get the car. Totally changes it and makes it a much better ride.

SLP loudmouths. Ok, your first post says you don't want it too loud and specifically mentions not getting them. Get them. You will see the error of your ways. They sound amazing.

4.10 gears, fatter tires.
