Default The most amazing thing ever!

Figured if I changed the title, more people might read and offer some advice:

I keep getting two engine codes: P0171 and P0174. They seem to come and go. A couple weeks ago I was getting the P0171 code. I checked to make sure everything under the hood (CAI, etc) was good and tight and cleared the code. Today on the way home from work, I threw a code and it was the P0174 code. Any idea why I could keep getting these? The only thing I've done to my car lately is replace some of the hoses with some braided hoses. Think I have a vacuum leak? Anyway to tell? Would that cause a code?

you're running lean. try cleaning the MAF sensor, that probly will fix it. and also check all vacuum lines and PCV hoses and make sure there's no leak. the vacuum leak or the dirty MAF sensor is probly causing the code. try replacing the braided hoses w/ the stock ones, sometimes the braided hoses may not be sealed well at the fittings. and make sure the MAF sensor is in there good too.

How can I test for a vacuum leak without pulling off the braided hoses and putting the factory ones back on? Everything seems to be nice and tight under there.

• P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1) • P0174 System too Lean (Bank 2)
As the first replier mentioned. You can check your vacuum with a gauge, but If this problem occured after changing hoses then you would be wise to switch them back to stock, erase the codes and see what happens. If the problem goes away then you know what to do... Good Luck.

did you get it fixed, Chris?
i was getting the same code a couple weeks ago. so what i've been doing was checking my vacuum lines and CAI on the SC. what i did the day before i got the codes was change my oil, and change the tune from street to performance. i did notice that when on the highway in 5th gear and go down a hill and deccel my a/f would go all the way lean until i take it out of gear or press the gas again. at first i thought it was the tune, but i changed the tune back and still got the lean a/f. so i took off the CAI, changed the pcv lines back to the breather setup i had on earlier, and dumped a crapload of carb cleaner into the throttle body bc i thought maybe the TB or something was getting stuck open when i took my foot off the gas. after all that the lean condition was gone and no code either, plus its running a lot smoother now. so i dont know what the problem was, either a vacuum leak or something in the intake was getting stuck open, but its fine now.

I took my car in recently for a custom dyno tune at S&R Performance in Tampa. Since then I haven't had any code issues, so I think it was something with the A/F ratio with my last tune
