I cant even imagine if you had a diff set up like macs or slp if you think the mm is system is loud on the highway lol crazy what some think is loud and to others isnt, I have mm and o/r x and its still not loud enough for me sometimes inside the car, outside sounds wicked but sometimes wished it was louder inside, I had macs, slp etc before so maybe thats where the sensation comes from.

If I had my 3.55 around I would of gave them to u but no clue what I did with them I will go look in the garage and see if I can find them and if I do there yours, not sure if its good to buy used gears or not though?

Sokay. I did do my homework, and while the numbers said I would not like them, the emotions and posts here about how much people liked them convinced me otherwise.

I knew I would be running at about 2700 rpm, and even went on the highway and drove in 4th gear (when I had 3.31 gears) at 2700 rpm to see if I would hate them. It was not the same as with the 4.10 at 2700 rpm now.

Used gears can be ok, if they don't have lots of miles on them. PM me back and let me know what you got. I'm gonna go back and look at my charts and see what rpm I would run on the highway with 3.73's at 75mph and stock tires. If it's 2400 or less, I'll go with 3.73's.

you skip the gears in normal driving so you don't scare small children or have every minivan soccer mom in the area trying to street race you (not sure why my car disturbs and attracts every soccer mom in her minivan or SUV but it does).

When it comes time to rip it open from a dig running drag radials/reloc brackets, 4.10's can't be beat (well maybe with 4.56's ). The dig hook/jump is unreal and no bog.

its probably louder now that the muffs have broken in and yes the stang does have a loud spot about there, no drone just louder and deeper.
good luck figuring it out, just search for gear calculator and see, maybe 3.90s will be a better decision for you. But also tire hight is to be considered, if you want 75 and not 80, 390s should do that for you.
also tires will help alot with the "traction" issues you are having.

I had 4.10's in my 06 GT auto trans car.. long story short.. it didn't take me long to put 3.73's in there.. know I am a happy camper.. no drone.. spins the tires with no problems ( no power brake either ) at a dead stop..

JMO.. but 3.73's ALL the way.. but again... each to their own..

but before I did that switch.. I would do what others said and start out in second and shift to 4th or whatever the case my be..!!!!

JMO only and to be taken as such..!!!!!!!!

I'm back on the fence between 3.73 and 4.10 with my auto. The reason is I'm really wanting 295/45/18 (nitto 555 which looks killer in that size) rear tires which are around 28.4" or so. That would make it feel like 3.90ish on stock tires. If I went with 3.73, it would be like 3.55 which wouldn't feel much or any better than what I have now. That would suck to pay > $500 for the gears and install only to be close to stock feel. :/ Then I take into account I'm getting ***** Thumpr cams. But at the same time, I'm worried about high highway RPMs since I do at least 25 to 30 miles of highway 70+mph a day (actually that's only one way). Plus I don't want 1st to be totally gone.

Actually I'd like 3.90, but FRPP doesn't make those only Motive and I'm worried about what everyone says about Motive.

Bah I don't know.

sirknight - Pro50 makes QUALITY 3.90's. These are what I wish I'd gone with over the 4.10's. Everyone harped FRPP 4.10's so that's what I went with. I think 3.90's would be perfect. Motive aren't bad gears, just bad installation.

Yeah, I'd say if you have stock tires, try out some better tires first for better traction. I know when I went to my 10" wheels the tires seemed to hook up much better. As far as wasted gears, If you bought the 4.10s for performance than, I would think you wouldn't mind skipping form 2 to 4, I do it all the time, even with my 3.55s.

What gears did you upgrade from? My GT came stock with 3.55s and a LSD so I just assumed most mustangs came with 3.55s.
