2005 is gone!
So I ended up trading in my 2005 GT today...
As those who've followed my adventures here for the last 4 years know I've had good times and several BAD times with my GT. I've loved having a powerful car that I modified until it looked original and the way I wanted (see pic) and could blow away most anything on the road (stock).
But I also had to endure 6 weeks of no car while the engine was replaced at 3,000 miles, and I've had issues with the many rattles, the gas tank problem, and a recent fuel injection issue, where the engine would rev up and down while it was cold. Not to mention the issues I've been having with the low ride height. I figured it would cost me at least $5,000 just to get that fixed, with new springs, panhard bar, 20" rims, and dampers professionally installed.
Then yesterday the car went into Failsafe Mode, stalled, and the check engine light was staying on. So I took it in today for service and while waiting I thought I'd look at the new 2010's.
The dealer had over a dozen in all the new colors. We took a Grabber Blue GT out for a quick spin and I gotta say it really handles and feels great. But the prices are up there, at about $35,000 decently loaded (as most are) and NO rebates or anything. I could try ordering one the way I want and waiting about 8 weeks...
We also looked at a Saleen DanGurney model that was going for $20,000 off! VERY tempting... but it is a little too much of a "ricky roadracer" "officer give me a ticket" car. Read all about it in Modified Mustangs (and maybe buy one yourself) while they're on sale!
So then he told me that the beautiful 2008 Shelby GT convertible that they had in their showroom was going for $40,000. They had all been way up there in price and I had even looked at a Grabber Orange recently and they were way too much! Just the MSRP on this car was over $48,000.
They let me have it for just under $40,000!
I got killed on the trade in, but like I said I'd have to spend thousands just to get this car up to test drive condition. So with that in mind a got an okay price.
I didn't even test drive it, as they won't let you test drive until they do a whole credit check (BTW I scored a FICO of 836!) but it runs like a champ!
Gonna wring her out tomorrow so I really got to get to sleep.
It's been a pretty cool day for a Mustang lover!

You need 20 inch rims to fix a low ride height problem? No one needs 20 inch rims and i'm not sure what you mean by low ride height.
I personally wouldn't buy the shelby gt. Now the gt500 is a real upgrade.
