Default Wrecked!!! Advice on repairs / possible GT500 front end conversion?

So this last weekend, I tried to make a right turn, but instead of going 90 degrees like I thought I would, I slipped on gravel and sand on the road and instead went something more like 20 degrees...straight into a pole. @(*^@&^%@&^%

I'm trying to keep my head up about all this and so am looking for

A) Advice from those of y'all who have dealt with insurance before and how best to proceed with that and
B) Advice from those of y'all who have made the GT500 exterior conversion.

I figure, maybe I could make the GT500 front end conversion after this? My front end is toast. I found a body shop that is willing to work with me and the insurance company to where I might be able to replace my stock GT front end with the GT500 front end, although I don't know what to expect in terms of added cost or difficulty and what not.

Thanks for the help y'all, and even for sympathetic posts. I was such a dumbass, making that turn - I guess I overestimated my driving abilities...

P.S. Here's a picture of the damage, if y'all want to see - I warn you, it'll make you cry if you love your stang.

The conversion will run you $1,600+ in parts alone last time I checked. If you really want to do it contact Kevin, Parts Manager Clevenger Ford Lincoln Mercury Work Ph# 1-800-570-5554 Ask For KC. He sells the full kit. (And "yes" your stock hood will work with a GT500 conversion)

Glad you are ok but sorry about your car. I hope your headlights are damaged and broken at the connection points/brackets, if you are planning on doind the conversion. You will need new headlights for the conversion and if insurance was paying for them, it would make things a whole lot better.

Since it looks like you will need all new brackets, grilles, etc....the GT500 setup will not cost much more than the GT setup. I think headlights are about $130 each.

as Barry said, call Kevin Casey at Clevenger Ford and get a current price on the GT500 conversion so you'll know where you stand there...then when the time comes, I would just sit down with the body shop owner and go through what the insurance is going to pay for vs. what it's going to take to do this GT500 conversion. at that time you should be able to see if upgrading to the GT500 front end is going to be more than the GT front end and by how much....you'll have to look at your budget and make a decision

good luck!!

Thanks for the replies, guys. I shot him an email and it looks like it'll be $1775 shipped nowadays.

Estimate guy doesn't come until Thursday unfortunately, but we'll see how everything goes from there.

Gotta say, our cars are built strong. Did that damage going like 35-40 into a pole. Would never have known I was in an accident but for the damage that the airbag did to my arms.

Anyone have any experience dealing with insurance companies? Can I go go after diminished value if the accident was my fault to begin with?

could be wrong, but since it was your fault, I highly doubt it...sorry.
