Question PLEASE CHIME IN - good gripping tire for cheap.. possible?

Alright, I dont really know if this is possible but I'll ask anyways..

here are the tires i currently have .. NITTO NTRD1 redline's
http://www.performanceplustire.com/i...ucts3/6130.jpg

and they do not grip for anything... but i can't complain seeing as how i spend 80 bucks/tire brand new... But now, after i put some money into the motor of the car, I feel Im not getting thefull advantage because i spin through first, most of second and chirp third. I was planning on adding 3.90 gears... but this has made me change my mine to only wanting 3.73's.
keep in mind kenne bell states 3.73's are the best way to go if you plan to add a kenne bell (i plan to). So with my traction issue right now... and knowing it will only get worse with higher gears...

what are my options for a good gripping tire... thats not gonna drain my bank account?
Also, i want something a little wider than stock. (right now im running 255/45/18)
I can get the Riken RAPTOR's for about $135/tire... but I dont know if these are what I need.

thanks in advance

A killer deal right now at Tirerack on Goodyear Supercar F1's... 255/45/18 for $129 ea. I just ordered a pair of these along a pair of the 285/45's for $640 delivered

No as they just showed up Tues. and will be mounted until this weekend. MY car is not a DD, so not really concerned about wet traction. But with these being the same tire that comes stock on the GT500s, I would assume they need some level of rain performance.

I do not have experience with that tire, but I do have Nitto NT555's and they are not supposed to be good in the rain but I think they are great. Also, keep in mind that on the stock wheels, a 285/45 won't fit good. Most I would go on a 8.5" wide wheel is 255.

The main thing I am concerned about is tractin off the line... my brother has fuzion ZRI ? on his 03 GT and they grab when he launches and stays even with me until I get traction part way through second haha. I do alot of light to light racing --(when apprioate). I'm not a dangerous street racer haha. And am willing to pay for these tires, but i want to get a good deal

I just got the Nitto 555s and they have been great in the rain so far. (I should know, it's rained every day since I put my new wheels on last week.

How about the Nitto NT05's? I've heard some good things about those, having good wet and dry traction even while being a DR.

I had Kumho Ecsta SPTs on my 07 GT that I liked really well. They were pretty inexpensive, but seemed to grip nicely. Tirerack sells them, but not sure if they come in the size you are looking for. I'd have bought them again if they made them in 275/50/17.
