SHOULD I TRADE MY 07GT FOR A SHELBY GT
#21
Hi evryone I was wondering if I should trade my car in for a new leftover shelby gt this dealer has two left, their looking to get 28,500 for it plus other incentives I can probably qualify for my car now has udp's, 4;10'S, a tune, cai, and boomtubes. I was going to change the midpipe and do fuel rail deletes but what do you guys think keep it or go for the shelby?
I wouldn't do it. Too much $$ for no performance gain.
I wouldn't delete the fuel rails either...

whatever you do, make sure you take it for a thorough test drive. You may have to fill out a bunch of paper work. Tell them you are aware of that procedure, but that you will not buy a car without giving it a proper test drive.
The 2008 Shelby GT's are all Vista Blue, and many were sent to Shelby in August of 2007! That means that those Shelby's could have sat in the sun for a long, long time!
Wish I could go with you to look it over! Just don't buy it the first day. Take a night to think about it and go with what your wallet says is right!

I would certainly not trade my car for the same exact drivetrain, just to get a few “visual” upgrades. I think Shelby GT’s are ok, but for the difference you are paying between the Shelby and your trade in, im sure you could turn your car into a monster. I much rather build a car the way I like it, then have the dealer rape me for a “SHELBY” name on my car. Personally, I don’t care about names or editions that are over priced. Look at my car in my sig, I bought a bottom of the line stang with only IUP, and with the money I saved (between that and a fully loaded one) I purchased everything on my car.

Here's what I would do (I almost did, but I'm upgrading to an '08 Dan Gurney Saleen instead). Tell them you want the Shelby, but they have to add the FRPP HO Supercharger for free. Then since it's an 08 you'll get $1000 rebate plus 0% interest for 72 months. You can't beat borrowing someone else's money for 6 years for free.
I just worked a deal where I'm getting a $58,000 sticker car for $45,000 plus $1000 rebate and 0% for 72 months. Then they are paying off my trade in full (which is probably another loss for them). Now is a great time to make a deal on an 08 Mustang. This applies to Saleens, Roushes, and Shelby GTs (sorry, no GT500 rebates or special financing).
Good luck.
