Default oxidation on my stripes

my 05 came with the factory black racing stripes (stickers) and after awhile the stripes have become very filming and covered in oxidation. has this happened to anyone else and what is the best trick to getting them looking good again? or am i looking at dealing with it and replacing them eventually

I got silver stripes put on my car, but after awhile the stripes literally started rusting. Luckily the shop that installed them gave me a warranty on them, they swapped em off for a new set.

In conclusion, you gonna have to get them replaced.

before going down the road of replacing them try polishing them the same way you would polish the rest of the finish. on my old car there were some 20 year old black pin stripes down the sides by the door handles and they were are all crappy looking like the rest of the finish at the time. when I polished the whole car I hit the vinyl stripes too and they looked brand new!

as long as your stripes aren't cracked or anything I'd bet they would come back to life if you polished them up along with the rest of the car. then just wax them when you wax the rest of the car, the wax will help block the UV and other crap that kills your finish.

that's what I use, I have an orbital that I use with foam pads. I'd try something mild like Meguiar's 205 finishing polish. most likely that'll take the oxidation off and it's so safe you don't have to worry about the paint's clearcoat while you're messing with the stripes.

I have no idea he said it had to do with the metallic in the paint or something. I had to go with a flat or solid color after because he said I won't put on another metallic I shoulda taken my money and left but I got new stripes put on and I havin trouble with them too.
