The 3500-pound Mustang uses welded steel unibody construction with front and rear subframes to mount the steering and suspension systems, with almost half the body weight in high-strength low-alloy steel.

Did the 2010 modify the subframe over the 2009 or is this just impress-you-talk???? I'm guessing its the latter.

The S197 has always been an awesome chassis, no doubt...
Same shell structure from the 09.
Only outside sheet metal changes.

Pasal, you have the know-how and I've often wondered... will the 2010 body panels retro-fit onto our 05-09 cars?? I know there is a multitude of problems that could occur if trying to do this but is it feasible?? I'd love to know if it is.

A 2010 front end with the 05/09 rear would be badass IMO.

It will involve too much cash for what it is IMO.
But if I had to do this, I'd use the 010 shelby front or even the V6 front bumper (I like it better than the GT).
I'd modify the 010 fenders to fit the 09 doors.
Or, for beaucoup more money, I'd use 010 doors and quarters to fit the 09 rear bumper.
Yeah, it can be done...

So it's the quarters and doors that don't matchup. Great info and something to keep in mind for future body upgrades if something goes wrong (ie wreck). Would an insurance company allow you to retrofit the doors/panels?? just wondering.

I wish you lived in central tx pascal. we just had another hailstorm thursday night. your shop would be packed.

The Insurance won't go for that.
They'll write it as stock, unless the car was already converted and it's not your fault.
Or it's your fault and you previously included the changes in your policy, to justify the difference in part prices if any...

As far as TX, I might move there if they secede, lol.

I've seen the 2010 at the houston auto show and a coworker has rented one for (not sure of how long but over 2 weeks)

but he rented a 6v and was unimpressed with the power
(however he had been borrowing an upper end mercedes from one of the bosses) so his impression might be a bit off

I like my 06 better than a 2010

although I might take him up on his offer to take the 2010 for a spin just for 1st hand knowledge

if I am not mistaken..didn't the old mustangs also have some square vents as well??
