Fist time to track ever!

When I went for my first time I was able to get a 13.8 @ nearly 105mph, but the track I got to is in a nice spot, it is only ~100ft above sea level and it was a 50* night. I'd say you are doing ok for the first time, but the trap speed seems low. Try this calculator and see what it adjusts your time to, I don't like using them but I'm curious. http://www.dragtimes.com/da-density-...calculator.php

If you didn't feel a difference with your tune, that sounds like the problem. You should definitely feel a big difference with the 93 Race tune.
Your 60' is bad, but not terrible. I pulled off a 13.8@104 my first time out, and my 60' was 2.2x. Is your car manual or auto?

I believe it makes a difference.
Leaving the spare tire and jack at home would also help as well.
Just work on your 60' times and you should be in the 13s easily with your mods.

im with Chris07GT about the weather.at least here in florida i have lost 2 to 3 tenth of a second because of how hot it is.again is your first time at the track and the more you run your car the more you will learn on how to launch and so on.just keep practicing and you will see your times drop.about the tune i dont know what to tell you, call bama and have them go over your tune.it took me 4 tunes to get mines to run ok.
good luck

more seat time will help you out a lot. you do have to take into account the heat right now and that will slow a car down for sure. try to get down to 2.0 60' times and then try to work lower from there. 1.8's are good. glad you had a good time. thats what its all about. have fun and be safe next weekend when you go back.

Good advice from the other members, especially on getting more experience.
Also, suggest that you allow the engine to cool down with the hood open for 20-30 min. after initially arriving at the track. As mentioned by others, heat is the #1 performance killer with these cars, especially if you have to wait a long time in line for your turn in hot weather.
Another suggestion is to disconnect the battery's negative terminal while waiting for the engine to cool off if you had been driving conservatively in the last few days prior to racing. This can increase your engine's performance by erasing the PCM's KAM(keep alive memory) that stores parameters from your conservative driving habits. Note that doing this may cause your engine's idle to become a little unstable. But it will correct itself after driving 10-20 miles.
BTW, were there any other S197 GT's racing that were either stock or modded with only a CAI/tune? If yes, what times were they running?

Correct your ET and MPH using the DA (Beta Testing)
Density Altitude: 2421 feet above sea level
1/4 mile ET: 14.258 seconds
1/4 mile trap speed: 97.15 MPH
Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
13.852 @ 100.064 MPH

During the first 6 track runs of my life (in my manual), I ran a best 13.868 @ 106.27 with intake/tune/LCAs/rear springs. I would think an auto with a tune would run at least 13.8, even with a first time driver. My 60' times were bad at 2.5+, but yours were better. You might have yourself an issue with the tune. Good luck!
