look up the trade-in value for that car, year, mileage, options, your zip code, under "good" condition, in kbb. i guarantee that's what they paid for it, or less. offer them $250-500 over that. don't negotiate. bring a friend to help you walk when they try to negotiate.

i came up with around $18.3k for trade-in on kbb.com. apparently some guys are thinking you can get it cheaper but i don't know. depends on the kind of deal the dealership got it for.

Anywho, I checked out this particular mustang today.

It's a pretty nice car, drove it for a bit and it drove quite nicely. The only strange thing is that the manager of the Ford dealership drives it home every night. Is there something I should be concerned with? When I started her up today, the engine was already warm so I wouldn't be able to inspect for burning oil or anything along those lines. (I checked the car around 1600 hours, and the manager was to come in around 1000 hours)

The interior is in decent shape, and I say decent since there are a few nicks on the aluminum part of the steering wheel.

The exterior looks rough, but I think its because it needs to be detailed/washed. I'm hoping that is the case, what do you guys think?

Lastly, they're asking 20500 for it... do you guys think I'd be able to pull it down to 18k?

Thanks!

Oh yeah, the dealership that I went to is Northport Ford located in Commack, New York. The salesman I dealt with goes by the name of Ed, and as of now he seems like a pretty decent person with absolute no pressure sales tactics which I like.

I would think 16-18 would be a fair price for that car.

I'll sell you mine. 8500 miles and asking $20K. Corsa exhaust and lots of exterior and interior mods. I also have a C&L CAI with a SCT Tuner for sale, $450. Also some other mods I won't list that I haven't installed them.

Yah, my brand new '08 GT was around $22k, I can't see them getting $20.5k for an '07 with 30,000 miles.

hold out for a deal, make them detail it before you talk about price.

+1 on asking price too high. my brand new 08 gt premium with IUP, gt appearance package, and 3.55 was just over 24K OTD

Way too much, especially at these times. Keep searching for a better deal. You should be able to get a cleaner '07 with less mileage for the upper teens.

I turned down a sweet deal on an '07 GT500 in the low to mid $20K's since I thought the dealer was high.

wow, screw that price. my 07 v6 was 13900 with 36k on it and i over paid by at least 2 grand. I wanted a specific color/interior combo so i snaged it after searching for several months.

And yeah my dad has worked as a manager at various dealerships and used to drive home cars off the lot all the time, its not at all out of the ordinary.

Well for starters that car is marked up crazy! I buy cars for my company at many auto auctions. I will give you an idea of what 2009s go for before dealer mark up and what not.

As far as the Gt500 for if you found one for mid to low 20's and you turned it down you must be on drugs. I just did a search for all gt500s that are at one of my auction and this is what i came up with. This is the lowest i have found right now but the lowest in the past 6 months was $31,700.

Check Sayville and Newins Ford. They always have cars and are better than most others in this area.
