see I'm confused at what you guys are saying

because on the F-150 forums, alot of respected guys say to go at least 500 miles prior to getting into it.

I am a member of the "OEM Doesn't Have to, so why should I" camp. But quite a few certified Techs are completely against the idea.

anybody have solid evidence? I will eventually going with 4.10's or 4.30's myself

Had 4.10s installed (Dealer) with no recommended break-in, no noises and no issues.

The solid evidence would be all the people, myself included, who did nt bother with a " break-in period" and have no problems to report as a result. on the other hand, if new bearings are used, which they usually are, they can generate alot of extra heat until properly seated. But its not really a big deal. The fact is , a lot of people do follow a break-in period to be on the safe side. But not everyone has that luxury. If the car is your dd and your only ride, you most likely dont have time to fool with it. If the gears are installed properly, there should be no problems either way. On a side note, If you plan on staying na, go with 4.30s, you wont be dissapointed.

Haha, i remember 3.31s. I couldn't believe how slow my car felt with them. Although it was kinda cool getting close to 80 in 2nd gear. Enjoy the gears!
