The service guy at the dealership made it sound as if that was the standard warranty on any of their repairs.

Is it possible the hood corrosion issue would fall under the rust through or body corrosion warranty which is something like 5 years I think?

The 5 year corrosion warranty only covers repairs or replacement if the metal is perforated.

That's right.
That's how Ford get out of this, since there is no way that it will be corroded all the way through.
Bastards!!

But they did fix it - event though not corroded through... I read their collision work document and it says collision work is covered "as long as you own the vehicle". Would this fall into that category? It is technically body work... and was done at their dealer collision shop... I guess if it appeared on another part of the hood I would be out of luck

Thanks for your response pascal, I know you are a body work pro.

btw - I am pretty certain they did not follow the TSB procedure but can't prove it - they would only write "repair corrosion on hood" in the work order.

Corrosion that does not perforate the metal is covered by Ford's Bumper-To Bumper Warranty(3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first), which apparently was the case with your car's corrosion.

They prolly wrote it in a way that it was a paint defect, rather than corrosion.
A good dealer will do that, to keep repeat business...
Glad it was taken care off though.

Sounds like its time for an after market fiberglass hood, lol.
Seriously tho, ask them if they will do the fit and finish if you supply the hood.

Just a random thought.
