No thank you for all of your responses! I will pass them on to my shop for next week. What is the best way to clean the MAF?
go to a parts store and pick up a can of MAF cleaner. It's basically brake cleaner with chemicals removed that could harm plastics.
Take out your MAF sensor.. Be careful not to touch any of the sensors. If it's anything like mine it'll have a temp sensor and an airflow sensor. The temp sensor (on my car) looks like a little tiny bulb, and the flow sensor looks like a very thin wire or wires. Just spray down the sensors real well with the MAF cleaner. Do it about 2 - 3 times. Then allow a couple minutes to dry. You may have to shake it a bit to get all the fluid out.. be careful not to drop the sensor. It is sensitive and $$$ to replace.
Two thoughts...
1. Your idle air control valve might be bad.
2. Do you have the capability to data log? If you have a handheld tuner, log fuel pressure and see if anything looks goofy.
Just FYI .....The 3V's or any drive by wire Ford don't have an IAC. The t.b. handles the job now.
