no, you cannot remove federally mandated safety features from a car and want to drive it on public roads. You might not get a ticket for it, because a lot of it is hard to enforce, but those are the rules. I really don't care if you don't believe me, thats how it is.

try driving around without a front and rear bumper for awhile, or just look at seat belt laws. Its no different. Its actually enforced more when you are threatening other people's safety rather than just your own.

Removal of the belts from your own car is legal, now, driving without it for state laws...

You might actually be right this time, I really don't know much of jack about the federal mandates.

However, it does seem to go a bit beyond reason.

I assume there are federal mandates on manufactured electrical items, giving information on how to alter devices, and being liable because another used the instructions to bypass a said safety feature and burned his house down seems to be a bit of a stretch.

The last 2 are stated to not work or at least not work the same for the newer units(09+), as they keep revising these clarion contracted OEM units to keep people from doing what is being asked of here. To avoid lawsuits as usual. So possible the programming method might work with a slight variation in the menu part, but likely you will need to spend the $250 if your set on disabling this. As it is not like the normal after-market units where you can simply ground the e-brake before or after the unit is on to bypass the lockout.

Thankyoupleasedrivethru
