Common problems of the S197, How many have you had?
I have an 05 GT 28,000 miles. Been a weekend driver for the past 3 years. And I try and avoid the rain whenever possible. So far I have had the Radio replaced twice by dealer for the "DEAD Battery Issue" Did not help. Still kills the batt. if you leave the radio on before turning off key. Gas tank does not always fill well. Most the time ok but it also comes and goes. Clunking noise in front when turning. dealer replaced Control arms ..Seems to be gone. P0340 and p0344 codes. Been getting them off and on for 3 years. More often now and now I can feel the car miss when the diode fails. Ordered new Alt. this week. Should take care of problem. Hope like hell I don't find a wet floor one day....What have ya had. Whats next. I guess I should go down the basement and check my org.hood for rust. I'll fix em as they come. I love my Stang but can't they make this a little easier.

Fuel pump problem.
Shaker 500 drained the battery on me once.
Suspension noise (chuckle). Haven't fixed it.
Scratched up tint. Required re-tint and moleskin kit.
Problems with trim pieces and insulation. Fixed under warranty. No TSB for that.
Gas tank doesn't always let me get completely full but I have never had anywhere near the problems some people have had with it.

08 S197 GT that I've had now for a little over a year, zero problems and 14,500 miles on the odo.
Your woes are the reason why i NEVER buy the first model year of a new car. Too many real-world problems that weren't found in the test lab.

Im over 40k on my 07 and i have a few issues with my gas tank, but ive learned if you move the filler around or back it out of the neck a little that is not an issue. I also have a small clunk when turning sharp going VERY slow like when parking, not just a hard turn

A ****load of rattles, which incidentally would make a good name for a rock band.
Also, wear holes in the convertible top. Had it replaced under warranty.
Also, a tranny and/or clutch that rattles like a **** when idle, but is apparently not covered under warranty. It's embarassing. Otherwise, the drivetrain seems robust and runs like a champ.
Oddly, I've owned two Explorers, and they have both been nearly flawless. No problems whatsoever, save for some recall issues, and one of them has almost 300,000 miles on the original engine.
Quality may be job one at Ford, but the folks building Mustangs apparently never got the memo.

E-brake freezing in cold weather, replaced under warranty. Spark plug issue, I broke one off (following the TSB to the letter). Trucked car to dealer where they broke off 5 more. After crying like a little *itch, I got the $650 some dollar bill refunded. I am now running Champion 1 piece plugs. Other than these problems, I've had 58K OK miles.

Oh yeah, I did replace my plugs at 10K for the champion 1 piece to avoid that known problem. It took so little time and now that I don't have to think about the plugs, I haven't.
My 08 was built right before ford changed the head design to actually fix teh problem from the factory.
