PAINTED VALVE COVER PICS........
#14
purchased:
1 can of grey primer duplicolor engine paint
1 can of ford racing blue duplicolor engine paint
1 can of clear duplicolor engine paint
120 grit sanding block
200 grit sanding block
first cleaned them really good with brake cleaner, then sanded them down all the way to where it looked like it had a dull chrome finish with 120 grit and went back over the easily accessable areas with 200 grit for a smoother finish
3 coats of primer
3 coats of blue
3 coats of clear
***allowing about 10 minutes of dry time between each coat.
if you have any blemishes in the clear coat, you can take 2000 grit sandpaper and evenly sand down your valve cover. then go back over it with a heavy coat of wax and shine them right up.
let dry for about 10 hours so the paint doesnt peel right off when trying to re-install.
re-install covers, and wa-la

+1, caution has a lot of expensive handwork done to his paint job. it was actually featured in one of the last few muscle mustang and fast ford magazines. i honestly dont even want to know how much all that air brushing ran him.
just know that the car is absolutely sick

I may see if I can find a spare set of valve covers, so I won't be without the car and I can take my time and do it right. Anybody got a spare set lying around?
Cautions car is sick, wish I could airbrush.

Dang Eagle those look awesome. They would go perfect with my Vista Blue.
Caution's car is just plain sick. So awesome.
I want to "chrome" paint my intake manifold. I plan on getting chrome valve covers and they would look good together. I wish I had the beans for a chromed JPC intake manifold. That would look killer. Or maybe just a polished whipple....

That looks really nice with the shiny whipple against the blue (almost grabber blue) valve covers against the red. Very nice combo.
One thing though...that hose running over the whipple really should be moved. It looks kind of weird going over the top. But I think the instructions say to do that if I remember correctly.
Everytime I see a pic of a polished whipple it makes me want to buy one. Maybe once my car is paid for in a year...
