I'm currently shopping for a GT Premium. The MSRP is $33,230 and I get A-Plan. Anyone have any ideas on what a realistic negotiated price would be?

Am I going to have any leverage with the 2011 announcement right around the corner?

Despite what any salesman tells you, the car industry is still hurting. Maybe not as bad as this time last year but they are. Offer him invoice price. Tell him to contact you if he reconsiders, give him your # and head to another dealership if he says no. They'll always hold out for more but push-comes-to-shove, they'll agree providing they don't have a bunch of young kids drooling over them.

It's always smart to call up and speak to the fleet sales manager. A lot of dealers now have internet sales managers also. I don't know about the rest of the country, but out here in So Cal a lot of so called managers are just upgraded sales people. They arent really managers, just one notch above sales person. The sticker mark up on cars will also vary considerably depending how much you are looking at spending. When I bought mine in May I called every dealer in the area and many had a bad attitude since I immediately cut to the chase, but bottom line is that on a V6 the mark up was less than $2,000.

When I got my 09 V6 Pony pkg the sticker was about 23, 900, but the invoice was $22,500. I tried to get lower but the numbers came back the same from every dealer I spoke with. They took off another $250 below invoice and the $3000 from Ford, I came out the door with tax, license, and doc fees at $21,500. I wanted to go even lower, but not one single dealer would even entertain the thought of it. What I'm trying to get at is that you can push so hard that you can push yourself right out of a deal also. Be ready to walk away from a stupid deal, but don't walk away from every deal or you will never buy the car.

Ok we have done a lot of 08-09 Nav installs but we had not done a 2010 yet. My mistake of assuming it would still be possible, I did a little research and Ford Engineer is exactly right. There is a place near me called National Auto that said they would attempt it, but would quote a price because I dont think they were really sure what they were committing too. Now that mine is here and I see the differences, not worth the risk.

I already bought it ... got it for a little under x-plan. I'll check this link out though.

Wow, that is a great link dude. That site gives you some awesome information. Thank you for posting. Up till now I wasn't sure if I pushed hard enough, but by running the numbers, I got one hell of a deal! It states that I should have paid about $24,000 for my car, and I worked it down to $22,000 (without the rebates of coarse). I love getting a great deal!

I bought my stang used, but on my 2006 Ford F250 that I bought new I got a smoking deal on it.

I bought it about this time in 2006, the 2007 trucks were already on the lot.

It stickered for 45000 and I got it out the door for 31000 plus my old 97 chevy.

I've seen my dad walk out of dealerships for a mere 500 dollar difference. He always holds out to get the price that he wants - as long as it's reasonable, of course.

I got my first dealer quote for A-Plan on a 2010 GT Premium. the MSRP was $33,750 and the A-Plan price with a $1500 rebate came to $30,350. At the time it seemed pretty good but since then I've done a little research and now I'm not so sure.

I've seen other dealerships with cars with higher MSRP's and lower "internet prices" than what I was quoted for A-Plan. Here is a good example.
http://www.ricartford.com/new-invent...8fab430c38.htm

based on that starting point I would think A-Plan should be more in the $28k range or lower when combined with other incentives. I'm following up and will post any updates.

Dreamer nailed it. Don't EVER pay invoice...Dealers rake it in if you are paying them invoice. The dealer would have made over 3500 if I had paid invoice for my Stang.
