Hurst shifter / S197 recall. 2 questions.

another fix I've heard of is via Dynomat and rubber matting.
dynomat the area underneath the shifter (inside the drive tunnel) and the area immediately ontop of the shifter opening.
then get a sheet of thin 1/8" thick rubber...about 1 ft square. cut a tiny 1/2" slit in the very center. then feed the shifter stick through that tiny little slit and be careful to not allow that slit to enlarge...all the way down until the rubber sheet is seated. the rubber should be extremely tight around the shifter stick...kinda of like how a wetsuit is
the theory is the rubber will absorb/distribute the vibrations as they transmit up the shifter handle. also serves as a double duty to seal out hot air and road noise from transmitting up that hole
