Went to the dealer and Ford is going to cover the repair. I am well within the 3/36. My understanding is that they had problems around 08 with a bad batch of materials. Doesn't look like the problem has been cured. It's along the front of the hoods weld point. They are going to repair, not replace. Anyone with repairs of this type had a recurring problem after the work was done?
Last time I looked (about a month ago) I didn't see any returning problems.

I take a lot of pride in the appearance of my car and for a 2005 to be having a problem like this is embarrassing. I could see if it was from the 70's and sat outside for the past 40 years but come on

Hey dont throw that hood in the dealerships lot! That hood is all Aluminum Go turn it in the a metal recycler. Or Hang it on the wall. I had a roush Hood scoop on my stock hood and I hung my whole hood on the wall with the opening pointed down i then put a LED scanner in the scoop so it glows. But I wouldn't let one of those car salesmen get the hood and turn it in for scrap

I was just kidding, showing my utter annoying with both the issue and Ford's non-compliance

I have a little on the front of the top of the car but that's it and that was there when I bought the car. I wax the car and keep it in a garage, I don't really have any paint problems.
