I ask all of these questions because there is a TON of crap behind the gove box, beside the glove box, above the glove box...... Pictures would be nice if anyone has them.

Thanks.
The instructions you referenced were for a Focus. It's also above the glovebox on a Mustang, but rotated so that it's harder to see.

In any case, you'll have to do the following:

Step 1.) Open glove box.

Step 2.) Completely lower glove box (release so that it drops all the way down)

Step 3.) Position yourself under glove box opening with flashlight.

Step 4.) Look up. The SYNC module is the black plastic box that should be right above you (installed parallel to the floor pan--not on end like on the Focus). It's about 8 inches by 4 inches. It has 'FoMoCo' molded into the plastic, and there should be a white-silver label on it. It SHOULD say 'SYNC' on that label somewhere (unless it's on the other side). The module is held up by 4 screws, and is next to a curved bracket.

Step 5.) The connectors are on the back side of the module (facing the firewall), the way it's oriented on the Mustang. The main wiring harness connector has a lever-release mechanism--DO NOT JUST PULL ON IT. YOU WILL BREAK IT. The USB connectors are recessed (also on the back side), but they're the Micro-USB connectors (like the kind that connect to your phone or digital camera). One of them is used (should be a wiring harness going into it) to feed your on-board USB port. The other is open. However, because of the recessing and the wiring harness connector, you'll need a micro USB cable with a very small molded boot/plug to get back in there.

If you want to plug some USB device into the second port, if you get a AM/Micro-M cable (pretty readily available), you'll need a AF-AF (double-female 'A'-plug gender changer) to essentially create a second USB port in your vehicle).

Thanks for the info fordengineer. Does the SYNC system support two usb drives at one time? I use the one in the glovebox for an Ipod Touch. I like that there is an option to use the other port, but im not sure what it would be good for other then changing the location of where you put your single USB drive.

And since I realized I just spoke in Engineer, here's what I meant:

You'll need one cable with these ends on it (a very small molded boot on Micro-M end, though...you might need to shave it down)
On Left: USB-A/Male (AM), On Right:USB-Micro/Male (Micro-M)

You'll also need one of these
A USB double-female 'A'-plug gender changer (AF-AF):

Plug the small end of the first thing into your SYNC module, then plug the large (flat) end of the first thing into the second thing. Plug your device into the other end of the second thing. Enjoy your new USB port.

And no, I haven't done this on my vehicle. I don't know what happens when you put 2 USB devices on and tell it to play from USB.

Whoa, I was typing my reply to cover my butt on that question when you posted. I have no idea if it supports 2 drives at once. I've never tried it. Hopefully it doesn't blow up.

Ford Enginner, you're the man. I saw that black box when I looked the first time but it didn't say Sync anywhere on it. It was probably just the angle I was seeing it. It did say FoMoCo on it thought, I do remember that. It's so cramped in there. I may have to get a small mirror or something so I can see where the second USB plug is.....

Well that's good to hear. So it does work..... My plan is to have the iPod in the glove compartment and use the console USB port for my Blackberry charger.

This is excellent news. I'll probably do the same thing and leave my iPod in the glove blox and keep the console port open to charge my iPhone.

Reading stuff like this gets me way too excited. I can't wait to get my `11. Such a long wait.

Exactly! I finally got under there tonight and found the second USB slot.

If you put your iPod into the glove compartment, where you are using that second port for your music, you have to hit the "command" button and tell it to play "USB 2".

It recognizes the USB slot in the center console as "USB".

If you scroll through the Play menu manually there is no option for "USB 2", just "USB". So if your iPod or music device is plugged into USB 2, you have to verbally tell it to play it.

Now I can charge my phone with USB in the center, and play my iPod in the glove compartment at the same time, instead of having to unplug one to do the other.

Good info, is there a spare 3.5mm jack there too? I use a sansa fuse to listen to my audio books, and I believe it will only work off of the 3.5 mm jack. I'm partial to my fuse, I have listened to 62 audio books on it now, and ont want to change just yet! Any one listen to Graphic audio's Deathlands series?
