Default TCS Activation under Boost

Most of the time I shut off the TCS when I drive, however sometimes I will forget.

The other night I had a GTO try to screw around with me, and the TCS was on. I did a dump at 40 mph , started spinning for a second, then it sounded like it hit the limiter a few times, then I smelled a burning smell.

The car is fine, and I havent noticed anything wrong with it, but Ive heard under TCS the car leans out dramatically?

yes, indeed. tcs activation under wot can't possibly be a good thing, as it cuts fuel to the engine. though I've not heard of anyone loosing an engine as a result, I'm sure it's been a contributing factor on a number of f/i cars.

I'm so programmed to turn off the tcs now, I don't even think about it; just as natural as turning the key.

To the OP.. O woul;dn't be too worried... I am sure Brent is smart enough to disable the fuel cut portion of the TCS in his tunes for FI cars.

As for the burning smell, maybe what you thought was spinning, was instead a slipping clutch...

Installed a relay on my tcs so now the default is off when I start the car. there is write up in this forum 15 bucks cost. No annoying warning lights on the console either. Just the button lights up "off"

Here you go:
http://forums.themustangsource.com/s...light=tcs+auto

I did this, even though I am not F/I; pretty easy to do and haven't had any problems so far.

Yes it does.

After cranking my car and putting my seatbelt on, hitting the TCS button to turn it off is always the next thing I do...LOL!!

It's my understanding that a tune can set the default to TCS off.

You can turn the tcs off with a tune however:

a/you cannot switch it back on unless you change tune
b/you get a yellow tcs warning in your instrument cluster.

The relay just "presses" the button every time you start your car to off. So if while you drive it starts raining, and you need the tcs on, you can just press the button on.
