bump ... we should spam ford engineer until we get an answer

ok swapped out my hu for a shaker one today. got the sound right but i couldnt the whole sync modules and wires out so no sync\ steering wheel controls work but a price because the aux. input is connected to sync on the shaker system so now i have no aux input which is ok with me but now i do have a 6 cd changer and my steering wheels controls work so . o and the compass still doesnt show up on my car so im just assuming that theres a module for that or its in the programming of the car.

I'm bumping this thread up as I noticed our good friend FordEngineer is back to actively posting. I PM'ed him this morning and am hoping for some assistance in this as I am really missing having the basic audio controls on the steering wheel.

FE - if you're out there, please help!

Here is a write up I referred to when I wanted to get the 2010 wheel from cubican.

I just swap my old GT 500 steering wheel for a new 2010. The swap is not a direct fit, I had to used the old harness and the new one from the steering wheels , (thanks Brian " Downtime" for the old steering wheel). If anyone whant to do one the wire combination is; Black (new H) to green (old H), Red to Red, Brown to blue, Grey to white. If you want the radio control to illuminate Black to green , and Red to red. The radio controls will not work but the cruise will work perfect. The lights on the steering wheels are blue not green.

Yes the wheel swap is simple. The issue is getting the steering wheel audio controls working with the base GT radio head unit. Not the Sync controls but just the volume and seek buttons. The base unit has no Sync support or any of the necessary modules.

The wiring is there (confirmed by a swap to a Shaker head unit), however, we are not sure if the base head unit supports the contols and if it does, how to get them to work.

From a previous PM from FordEnginner, the base head unit should support the audio controls but getting them to work has been a fruitless endeavor so far.
