Nice. I love reading about everyone's high mileage vehicles in here. I've got a '95 F150 XL with 133K miles on her and she still runs like a champ. I have to add about a cup of coolant every two weeks or so, but that's due to a leaky water pump gasket that I just haven't bothered to fix yet. Oh yeah, this truck went through KATRINA!

I had a teacher a few years ago that had an early 90s Chevy truck, and I was one day talking about my little Bronco II and was feeling smug and proud about its 190K mile mark. He just sort of shrugged as though it was common and said "My truck has 250K on the original motor and drivetrain" I was astounded that his daily driven truck had that many miles on it. Id never heard of a domestic truck doing that. I declared "Wow.. Thats a damn reliable truck!" He looked slightly offended and told me that it had been nothing but trouble lately and that it should have been working flawlessly for a lot longer than that. Apparently the truck had been rolled at one point, too.

I personally feel like if a vehicle DOESNT hit 160K, it's a lemon. Fuel pumps, water pumps etc probably wont last that long, but the power train damn well better. Im still pretty disgusted that our 87 f150 went down as early as it did.

The failure of accessories was true for my Chevys, Buicks, Pontiacs, VW's, Saturns and Jeeps usually before 100,000 miles. But for the 6 Toyotas I've owned totaling shy of 1,000,000 miles on 5 of them (1 is fairly new), I'd have to say that I'd have been pissed if I was seeing accessory failures before 200,000 miles. In those 1,000,000 miles on 5 vehicles I replaced 1 failed alternator. In 383,000 mile of clutch driving (2 cars) I replaced 1 clutch. And if I had to replace brakes before 100,000 miles I was annoyed.

'07 GT/CS just rolled 130,000. ZERO problems other than tires and brakes. Front brakes had 25% pad life left the rears were toast at 120k.

Im with you Nuke. I've owned alot of cars all American, some with issues, with the exception of my 94' Toyota Xtra cab pickup with the 4 cyl 2.4 eng. This Toyota has been the most reliable I've ever owned. I bought it new and have maintained it myself at the proper intervals for every system. All I've ever done to it is a starter recently and replaced the leaky crusty valve cover gasket. It has 208 k miles on it now and I hope to be one of those 500k mile stories one day. I will NEVER get rid of that truck! I do love my vert GT Stang though which is why its not my DD lol.

I do have to give Ford props though because here at work I have two F-150 4X4's, one is a 1998 and the other a 2002 with the 5.4L Triton engines. Both trucks have run emergency traffic most of their lives. Neither truck has had a major engine failure. The transmissions didn't have to be rebuilt until 140k miles which in my opinion is outstanding for a vehicle running emergency traffic every day. The 1998 is retired from emergency traffic with 185 k miles now. Still is used though for other duties occassionally. The 2002 model with 190k miles sees occassional emergency traffic but more non emergency driving now.

I have been very impressed with both Ford and Toyota quality.

I have to say that I didn't buy this car for the reliability, but seeing all these problem free miles that some have, I'm pleasantly surprised

So to piggy back off of the ranger that were posted with high miles I have one that is a '97 and the odometer went out about 3 years ago ... and it reads 240xxx miles ... and still runs perfect ... has only 2 batterys ... the factory on and the current one ... Just a note I give this little truck hell ... it's a 5speed ha
