Default Whirring from wheel area

I just used my car for the first time in 4 weeks and I now notice a rather loud whirring noise coming from what appears to be the passenger side front wheel. The noise gets louder with road speed and is not affected by braking or engine rpm. This is a sound only and does not affect the way the car drives. Does anyone have any advice for this?

was the car sitting in the garage, or out in a field?

I would pull the tire off and check the brake shield. You may have gotten some grass or other debris in there...or maybe mice did it for you

Nope, still have the stock gears. And the noise is clearly coming from the front of the car.

i had a loud terrible whirring sound a while back and it was actually due to my rear bumper someone rubbing against an exhaust pipe and making that awful whirring sound. I know it sounds wierd, but maybe something is rubbing.

May be your brake pads have a "low" clip rubbing on your rotor to tell you that time to change brakes?

(happened to my wife's car)

I'd certainly jack that wheel up and spin by hand to be sure it's not something significant (I'm surprised you haven't done this already). I'm thinking similiar to what's been posted: some trash got in there, perhaps with a little mousey help.

Until you get that wheel off and look, it could be a 1000 different things. Get the car up and spin the tire before you take it off. Try to narrow your search. If it doesn't go away with braking, its prob not brakes if its not something obvious. Check BOTH sides of the rotor when you get the tire off too. Both sides should be smooth(for the most part) and be evenly worn on each side of the rotor center vent. Also, check your wheel bearing by raising the front of the car with both wheels off and try to wiggle your tire from top to bottom. If there is play, the wheel bearing is shot and that's prob your issue.
