Anyone get grief for having an automatic

It must be a bigger deal then when the whp levels get pretty far up there. The difference isn't anywhere near 1/2 second with lower powered cars.

None of the cars in the top traveling series (Cup. Nationwide, Truck) do.
But I think there are some series down at the lower Saturday night bullring level where AT's are in fairly common use. Think Seekonk on either asphalt or dirt, up to no more than twice that length.
And an AT car might be available at some of the NASCAR driving experiences (something that most enthusiasts should try at least once in their life, BTW).

A friend of mine would borrow his Moms 71 429 T-Bird and do that. Roll it backwards down a hill in neutral. Give is some revs and pull it into drive then use the throttle to keep the speed-o at about 60 MPH going backwards doing a one wheel burn. Going 5 MPH backwards while burning the right wheel at 60 MPH leaving an amazing burn mark in the asphalt which persisted for years. It also melted that new radial down to the steel cords which is how his Mom found out. That and the rubber coating the wheel well. I still chuckle about it. Mostly because I didn't have to face the music on that one.

I bought the only 2010 Stick shift on the lot, out of 16 cars GT's included. I tested the automatic after driving the stick and I noticed a huge difference in performance. The automatic V6 in the car I tested seemed like it couldn't get out of its own way, plus I noticed the exhaust sounded better on the stick version. I asked the dealer why they didn't have more in stick shifts, they told me because of all the traffic in the area the stick is not a good seller. I'm glad I got the stick but I wouldn't look down on anyone who picked the automatic. Sometimes it is frustrating in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
