Capless fuel tank problem -- ugly water streaks

Compresses air from canned air bottle or a shop compressor is what I use to blow out air from nooks and crannies on cars I wash. No more spending time drying the car only to have it streaked the second I drive away.

The problem is the water that comes out later as I'm driving, and get out to see the stupid streaks branching out from the bottom of the fuel door.
Mind you, this is only after I've washed the car. When it rains (or snows) is a different story. That's really what I've used the napkin for.

reason for slit in door seal
with the capless system small drains are needed to keep the dust out of the system. there is a drain near the flapper that is routed to near the rear tire, this is there to relieve overfill of fuel so that it does not drain all over the side of the car. The small slit was added so that water had a place to drain otherwise it lays in the pocket. You could take some RTV to fill in the slot but then the water from the car wash or bad weather would lay around in the pocket till it evaporated. ultimately if it was me I would fill it in because it would get less dust in and would alleviate the problem of water marks. at that point I would just open the door after a car wash and quickly try to dry out the little water left.
