Question about GT/CS side scoop install
#11
Hi,
There was no way i was going to make holes in the quarter panels, I used the factory 3m tape but added multiple layers of 3m tape at the locations where the fasteners would be and very (very) lightly scuffed contact areas with a fine scotch brite pad, cleaned areas
with solvent and installed the scoops, just make sure you align them correctly,
they have been on there for two years and no issues ,no way these are coming off,
remember, all other aftermarket scoops go on with 3m tape,

It promotes adhesion without scuffing the paint (WHY?????)
and helps the acrylic adhesive 'set'.
No holes needed.
Break off the assembly line 'alignment' pins

I used the adhesive promoter and 3m tape only and mine have been on for about 2 years now without any problems. I wouldn't drill into the car.

I have a question for those that have bought GT/CS side scoops. I have found a place that sells them painted for $354, does this seem like a good deal? Anyone bought painted parts from Bangastang before?

My Roush 1/4 window covers are on there with 3M only and good luck
getting them off without wanting them to come off...
There are about a gizzilion different 3M tapes available...
Gets the right one for the job....

From 3M's site:
"Important Precautions and Recommendations
DO NOT… • Touch or contaminate the exposed adhesive surface of the tape.
• Let the tape sit around with the adhesive surface exposed.
• Apply the new tape over the old tape or tape residue.
• Use an adhesion promoter on the painted surface of the vehicle.
DO… • Use recommended 3M products for repair of all automotive BSMs and trim. "
