Lots of travel back and forth between western PA and southern NC for the holidays, etc - about 500 miles of highway each way. This year my average is only 20.65 so far since its been mostly mixed driving.

How do you guys justify going to 6 decimal places in your MPG calc's? The final calculation is only as good as the data inputed. If the lowest decimal place is 2 places then the final number can only be accurate to 2 decimal places, or that was the way it was when I was in engineering school.

Because significant figures are based on digits of significant confidence with respect to accuracy, not necessarily decimal places. Because cumulative gallons were measured to 6 sig figs (3 ahead of decimal point and 3 after decimal point--3 digits of decimal accuracy on most fuel pumps, that is), and mileage is 6 significant digits, composing 5 leading digits and 1 decimal place, I can extend my MPG calculation to 6 significant figures.

Looking back at my MPG calculation, I did make a mistake and should drop that trailing 3. The MPG should read 21.9516. Good catch.

Is this what you're looking for? I don't know much about these die-cast thingys but I was really bored and have some pretty good google-fu.

Everything else I found was a vert, GT500, or had some really stupid wheels.
