Default Fuel Consumption Stats

So I just finished running the stats for my fuel consumption for the 2009 Driving season (I put my car away for the winter here in MI... November 7th it went into hibernation).

Since I'm an engineer, I'm huge on numbers, stats, and such. That said, since I logged all my fill-ups, with receipts (I'm borderline OCD like that), here's some interesting data on my vehicle. If you have some on your car, post up!

Driving Season ending November 7, 2009
Days in service: 207
Total Fuel spend: $1,200.21
Total Fuel (gallons): 459.073
Total Miles Driven: 10,077.4
Avg Gallons/Day: 2.2177
Avg Gallons/Fill: 12.7520
Avg Cost/Fill: $33.34
Avg Fuel Price: $2.616
Avg MPG: 21.95163
Avg Fuel Cost/Mile: $0.12
Avg Fuel Cost/Day: $5.80

Wow. I don't do all that. I just checked my mileage for the first time last week. 23.98 mpg on a trip from Vegas to topping off in Barstow.

Granted, it was raining a bit, so I didn't get to do my normal 85-90mph cruise.

My calculations show you get: 21.951628608086295643612235962472 mpg!

(Sorry, this is how engineers rib each other...)

BTW, my dad would always install plastic seat covers on his Fords and said the same thing to me when I asked him why he did it. In reality, you are doing a favor for the next dealer who sells your car, so push for the extra 1K at trade in time!

I might get that fuel economy, but the numbers used for calculations only go to 6 significant figures.

Just wait until I get that flux capacitor installed. I'm thinking mod of the year, but we'll have to see.

...and I always sell privately. I don't want a dealer screwing up the car before they put it out on the lot. (switching tires, brakes, air filters, and other stuff I've seen them do).

Enh, I don't go that far. I use the amenities the way they were meant to be used, but I just take extra effort to take care of them (e.g. I don't drive the car in the rain or snow, and I use Zaino products to clean and protect the interior and exterior surfaces). My Explorer is my 'all weather' vehicle, but I care for that vehicle just like I do for my Mustang.
