Making the Auto Stronger...

I remember reading about Larry's Transmissions in California, but
that was a couple of years ago.
You send them your tranny and they put a new stronger input shaft,
and possibly a better, higher stall torque converter at your request.
Another option is Level 10 transmission. And for an extra $500 they
send you a whole new transmission instead of sending in yours.

hmmmm.. Yeh Ive heard horror stories about the auto tranny dying with boosted engines ! Just dont want that to happen ...Just want the whole car to be ready to get boosted when i get back from my next deployment ! so when its time to boost i dont have siht to worry about

I understand. However, rebuilding the tranny is not cheap at all.
You're looking at $3-4k with install.
But since the 5R55S is more likely to go before the engine,
I think it's a smart move to start with the transmission.
Of course JDM is an exception, you might want to look into
a supercharger kit from them, or at least have them tune it.
They're running 10's on the stock 5R55S.

These people kill me always saying the autos arent "real" cars. Id like to see you race some of these "fake" automatics and then see whos saying whos got the "real car". love manuals but im an automatic as well and love it.

The track is not as hard on the trans. as street driving, the sudden down shifts is what causes the damage, 0- 120 is not as hard on it. However running slicks and power braking some have broken the main shaft. Larry's transmission in Ca. I heard does a good job for the money, the problem is getting your trans. to them. It seems the 3rd gear in the a/t is the weakest.
