All CDs stuck in Shaker 500
Hey guys, haven't posted on here in awhile.
My Shaker took a crap, and just says CD error when I try to load, eject, play, or switch cds. It makes a clicking sound when I unlock the car to get in it, and of course my Warranty was up in December.
I have had a dead battery since, and even that did not get it to reset. I've tried holding down the eject button, to no avail.
Anyone have any tips to get my damn cd's unjammed?

Mine did the exact same thing. There is absolutely no way to fix it. What it is the gears inside the unit get sheared off and stuck together. What I did was take the shaker apart and take out the cd player portion out and put the unit back together without it so I only have a radio but no clicking noise

Mine does that, too. Only way I could get it to stop ticking was to cut the power to it. Usually it would act normal once I did that. Now I only put one cd into the cd changer. Seems to work better but once in awhile it gets stuck.

Seems to be pretty common. I bought my car used, and was too busy listening to the V8 to check radio function.
I disconnected my battery, to no avail... Glad I didn't lose any CDs. That's insult to injury.
Sucks *****.
I just went around the problem by installing an iPod connector kit. I've spent some fairly long periods of time in my car for various reasons, and it seems like every once in awhile the CD player makes noises. Like it is trying to change discs.
Anyone get a free replacement out of warranty?

Buy an aftermarket HU (or breakdown and get another skipper 500 from the classifieds) and take the stock piece of **** to the driveway and stomp it to hell. I cant wait to get rid of that damn thing!

I work in service at a ford dealer, if you are a good servicing customer with a ford dealership you may have a chance at free replacement out of warranty if not then you are out of luck. IMO it's not worthwhile to replace a shaker 500 if you are on the hook for the cost. I would advise getting an aftermarket head unit or find a used shaker on the forums, ebay, craigslist etc.

Please excuse the Hijack...
What if I just recently put money into an iPod connector that wired directly to the Ford radio?
Will an aftermarket HU still work with the iPod unit I just paid big bucks for?
Thanks.
