Ok so I dont live in an emisions state but the guys at the inspection stations do a visual inspection to make sure you have cats. Has anybody ever had fake cats fabricated and welded onto the h pipe? Seems like it would be easy enough to do. How much do you think a shop would charge to fabricate something like that or does anyone make one already?

Just make sure you put a pipe all the way through them. If you leave them as hollow chambers the turbulence actually reduces flow over stock.

A Guy from my work did this but he bought converters for 2 3/4 pipe and slipped them over his 2 1/2 pipe and welded them there so they are doing nothing except for looks.

By gutting the cats, how does it help?
When I had my x pipe installed, the guys at the shop asked me if I wanted my cats gutted, but here in ****-land, I'm sure they would see it.

Honestly, how much of a difference will gutting the cats make? I have high flow cats on my x because I need them for emissions, but I can see right through them, there really is not much in the way at all.

Not saying it will do anything and that wasn't the point anyway. What I was saying is installing the O/R H Pipe and fabricate what looks like cats to go over the pipe. Still keeping the stright pipe just having cat look-a-likes over the pipe. That way when the instpection guy looks at your engine he sees what he thinks are cats. Like I said they dont check emmisions they just visually inspect to make sure you have them.
