Fixed an annoying rattle (OD Switch)
Took me awhile to figure out where the sound was actually coming from. Sounded like it was coming from behind the radio, or behind a vent.
But I was reading a thread on here about rattles, and someone mentioned that the O/D button on their auto shifter made a noise.
Next time I heard the annoying buzz at about 1100 RPM, I gently placed my finger on the button and the noise stopped completely!
So, here is what I did. You may have this lying around the house.
Take one of the foam spacer discs from a stack of CD/DVD media.
I used the thinnest, softest one of the three different ones that came on the stack of DVDs.
Then cut around the outside, pretty close to the hole. You may be able to do this more neatly, but it will get squashed in between the O/D button and the inner ring of the shifter handle, so no BFD.
Then I colored mine with a blue Sharpie, just because I wasn't sure if the white would show a lot. I don't think anyone would be able to see it unless they were REALLY looking anyway.
I used the end of a zip tie to push the ring over the O/D switch. Function of the button is not affected, and the rattle is gone!
I tried a small rubber band first. It worked when it was warm, but on cold mornings, it contracted enough that I could still hear a rattle.
I hope this helps someone out there. If anyone has another remedy for this issue, post up.
Cheers!

took me a while to find the source of this rattle, then found your fix.
i guess its a mastercard moment, 5 cents for the foam divider, the idea what to do with it, priceless.
thanks a lot,
ed.
