I have a plan for when/if mine goes. Either a rebuilt 3650 with 26 spline shaft or 4r70w. I go back and forth. If it happened right now I'd go with the auto. It would mean no more clutch/slave cylinder/ changes along with flywheel surfacing. That crap is already old and I've only dropped the tranny 3 times. It wouldn't be any harder than swapping out the manual. You can have a trans brake if you want. No more notchy shifts.

Hell, I'm not even on the fence now. Auto all the way. Think I'll start collecting parts.
any info on the conversion would be appreciated,im leaning towards this as well.

It looks like you are getting good advice on another forum. It would be about $4k for a complete set up like I would want, plus shipping.

Thanks for the wake up call. I'm putting a bigger pulley on mine, keeping it under 500rwhp and calling it a day.

Edit: If money is real tight just buy one from nto http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustang_gt...2005-2008.aspx and turn down the wastegate for awhile. Then as money allows send your old tranny to Liberty or wherever and upgrade the internals.

Found this for $3250 http://www.promotionpowertrain.com/N...8_MUSTANG.html

It's a beefed up 6060 with everything but the clutch.

Same company also sells a beefed up 3650 with a 26 spline shaft for $1650.

Damn Paul, that input shaft was ready to go as well.
Good thing you made it home...

I could be wrong but swapping to a slush box might be more costly and if left stock, you might be on burrowed time again.

Your cheaper route seems to get a reinforced 5spd though...
