after market GPS mounting

Ah Sorry AJ_68. I must have skipped your post by accident. Proper credit should go out to those who came up with the idea first. Probably you could have saved me some research hours had I seen your post earlier
Also it's great to know that this really works. I'll post pictures sometime later this week unless I'm beaten to it.

FYI, I wasn't too happy about mounting to the windshield of my '07 but I found that I could mount it low enough that it didn't block any of the road due to the rake of the windshield and the height of the hood and scoop. But I still will look at some of the options mentioned above.

Take a look at this company. Pro Fit, they make some great GPS mounts.

I'm tellin you guys...... If you buy a Garmin GPS it comes with everything you need to mount it to your dash, if that's the route you want to take. It comes with the disc and the suction cup mount.....
Is it just my car that constantly draws power out of that power source that's on the dash? When I had my GPS plugged into that power source it ALWAYS stayed on. If I plugged into the one in the center console it would turn off when I turned the car off. That's why I decided to mount it directly over that power source (on the dash). I have no use for it if I have to constantly unplug whatever I have plugged into it just to get it to turn off. It's a great mounting spot and if you hardwire it behind your dash the wires are not visible at all. It seems like a much cleaner setup.
Here are the pics again so you don't have to look back at my earlier post.....

That works fine unless you have my garmin that uses the power cord as a FM reciever for traffice updates.
I have mine mounted to the windshield low enough that the garmin almost touches the dash.
As for the cord... well, it just makes a "U" shape around teh console to I can see the display.
